This extravagant diamond glimmers with a sparkle only befitting that of a pure Flawless/Internally Flawless Fancy Diamond, amongst the rarest diamond clarities in the world.
The 24.78 carat diamond was bought by British billionaire Laurence Graff, who described it as the “most fabulous” diamond he had seen in his entire career.
The gem, which has been classed as “potentially flawless” putting it among the top two per cent in the world in terms of quality, is now both the most expensive diamond and the most expensive piece of jewellery ever sold at auction.
Its huge price tag, which included a 12 per cent buyers’ premium, was almost double the previous record of £15.3 million for a diamond.
Graff said: “It is the most fabulous diamond I’ve seen in the history of my career and I’m delighted to have bought it.”
Head of Sotheby’s international jewellery division, Auctioneer David Bennett also described the diamond as “absolutely sensational”.
Additionally, the diamond features shield-shaped shoulders for a setting, with silver ring. This flawless diamond scintillates with stunning sparkle, and makes the collector, Laurence Graff, amongst the most elite diamond collectors alive. Bravo to Mr. Graff for a sensational purchase worth noting the world over.
